Digimon Adventure by RW09 Digimon Adventure by RW09
-edited-
Let me explain the crests: in my country (Portugal) Mimi has the crest of Innocence and Jou has Sincerity (Adventure) and Loyalty (Zero Two). I don't exactly follow my country's dub because I grew up with the japanese raws I found online, but I decided to follow it here.

In Japan
1) Mimi has the "Junshin no monshou (純真の紋章 ) - crest of Purity
2) Jou has the "Seijitsu no monshou" (誠実の紋章 ) - crest of Loyalty/ Sincerity/ Reliability/ Honestly. Jou's crest is actually hard to translate in other languages.

I'm aware the U.S. version has different names for the crests, but I don't have reasons to follow it. I've watched this version once and I dislike the general changes of it. I'm sorry.

I hope this clear things up.

Amazing! I always wondered why Mimi's crest was changed though. It made no sense to me, but oh well.

Straight to Favorites! :D

Germany used reliability for Jou, which is "Zuverlässigkeit" in German. I always found that... weird :D It's such a long and strange word compared to the other crests.
As for Mimi, she had "Aufrichtigkeit" which I guess is equal to sincerity... Purity surprises me though, I always thought Hikari's "light" was a symbol for purity and innocence :hmm:

I don't blame you, it took me a while to get it how can Light be a virtue the same way the others are. That was until Taoism took over my mind and I finally realized this 'Light' is supposed to be the manifestation of the being. This light is the manifestation of one's True Will so to speak. Suddenly Hikari's talk of «Light and Darkness are too sides of a coin» on episode 45 started to make sense all of a sudden. But this isn't a cult to our typical western Machiavellianism either. The way Taoism looks at duality is very different indeed...

Oh, so that's where it comes from.
It would have been nicer if they had "darkness" as a crest then, too. They could have worked with Ken. Having him struggle with his dark side would have made a great plot. He could have realized at some point that darkness is part of this world just as light is, and by this understanding finally activated his crest.

Thank you for the explanation :)

I still love your art by the way. I'm not as active on dA anymore, but I am always so happy when I see new art of yours

*«Light and Darkness are two sides of a coin» I mean.
Actually, she says something like «If there's Light, there has to be Shadows. The problem rises when darkness takes over.» which implies the problem isn't the fact darkness exists. It's just the fact there's too much of it. We need both to balance the world though.
